Freedom4S Production – Torque & Angle Wrench

Advance solution for production from 0 to 1 200 N·m

Freedom4 is the perfect wrench for Quality Control of tightening processes, for joint analysis, for the determination of the joint stiffness, for production as a backup of power tools, or for small productions, thanks to the possibility to perform all the Torque/Angle tightening strategies.
Compared to the Freedom3, the wrench recognized by the market as the most advanced and intelligent tool, it features advanced features that no other competitors offer on their tightening tools:
-Obstacle detection: it the wrench body hits an obstacle during the tightening operation, the wrench automatically detects the problem and advice the operator with a corrective action.
-Automatic wrong handling recognition: Freedom4 wrench detects also if the operator is handling the wrench with the hand in the wrong position, providing a warning message in case of not correct handling.

These features, combined with all other connectivity functions already present in the Freedom3, bring the Freedom4 wrench as the new reference for error proof assembly and quality control on a production line.
The wrench hardware has been completely redesigned, as well as the main menu interface, with new colored icons. The extremely rigid Carbon extension reduces the weight and improves ergonomy.
It offers integrated barcode scanner to scan the production VIN (Vehicle Identification Number), integrated radio (WiFi or Bluetooth) to interface with the connected device.
End-fitting tool is provided, with improved connection system that strengthen the reliability.

Wrench Homologation

Homologation in the field of fastening technology is usually associated with a specification published in 2009 by five German car manufacturers – AUDI AG, BMW Group, Daimler AG, Porsche AG and Volkswagen AG – for all their plants worldwide and also for their suppliers.

The background to this is that the manufacturing industry in general, as an international quality requirement, needs statistical proof of capability for its production equipment. First of all, this requires a set of technical rules that provide a procedure for evaluating and specifying the performance of assembly tools. Since 2005, this has been the VDI/VDE 2647 “Type testing of fastening tools – Torque and torque/angle testing”. This enables manufacturers of fastening tools to offer their products under correlated technical specifications and users to compare fastening tools from different manufacturers on the basis of identical practical requirements. In other words, VDI/VDE 2647 describes how testing and evaluation must be carried out, but not what the minimum requirements should be for a specific industry, e.g. with regard to repeatability.

This is where the 2009 homologation regulation comes into play. With it, a manufacturer must ensure at least the same quality of fastening technology over the entire production cycle as at the time of the original homologation, and the limit values are specified in detail.

The advantages for all parties involved are clear. This standardization initiative significantly reduces costs while increasing quality – and SCS Concept Group is proud to provide you with the necessary, comprehensive documentation for the relevant production tools here.
